Our Espresso is imported directly from Napoli. This brings quality and authenticity only found from roasting and blending the finest Arabica and Robusta coffee beans sourced directly from South America and Africa. |

A scoop of gelato and shot of Italian espresso poured over top, makes for a true Italian classic. Feel like a boozy affogato? Try our house favorite; Frangelico poured over a generous scoop of hazelnut gelato or Vanilla Bean gelato with a shot of Kahlua. |
Paninis & Roman Style Pizza |
Our classic panini sandwiches are made with imported Italian meats, cheese, and vegetables, grilled to perfection. Our Roman pizza dough is made from a traditional recipe which gives a light and airy texture that is baked to perfection. |

Variety of imported Italian sodas, Iced Teas, and natural or sparkling water. Hot Chocolate or Italian soda floats with or without liquor have been an Amato classic for over 20 years. Imported Italian craft beer and vino are also available. |
Starting with a small dream, a whole lot of passion and a love of homegrown ingredients, Gaetano LoScerbo began crafting & selling gelato out of a tiny cart in a small rural town in Southern Italy in 1929. With fruit, nuts, honey and dairy so readily available, it just made sense to cool down the town with these frozen delights. Little did he know that the basics he started with would be passed down and refined into something much larger than his small delivery cart of goodness.
Lovingly named after the hometown and place where Mario’s recipes and passion for gelato-making originated. Â
After many requests from Vancouver locals, craving a place to hang out and enjoy Mario’s Gelati, a cafe is opened street level at the production facility.
Moving into the central and trendy neighbourhood of Kensington, where it would become a staple of the area for years to come.
Since 1994 Calgary restaurants, hotels and grocery had been serving Mario’s Gelati; it was only fitting Calgarians would finally have a truly authentic Italian Gelateria to enjoy.
After 15 years owner Dino Falvo decides it is time for a new look and feel. The cafe is renovated, both inside and out.
Now offering an expanded dessert menu, alcoholic beverages and affogato’s. All in a beautiful enclosed patio space which has been described as one of Calgary’s best!Â
After making an impact on the community of Kensington for 20 years, Amato decided to focus on a more traditional Italian experience, with expansions of the food menu, addition of cocktails and providing an interactive landmark to Calgary’s vibrant 17th Avenue.
Since the original opening of our café in 2003, Amato Gelato has become a staple in Calgary. Located in the charming area of Kensington, we offer a great environment for sipping an espresso or enjoying a delicious scoop of gelato.
We are open year-round, and since 2018 have offered an expanded menu in addition to our rotating menu of over 72 gelato flavours. Now you can enjoy an authentic Roman-style pizza, grilled paninis or imported Italian pastries.Â
Excellent selection of fresh made gelato's - so many to choose from you must have at least two different scoops each time in order toget through the flavours!!! Service is excellent; extremely friendly and professional. Faculty itself is super clean and we'll organized.

I got the cookies and cream and it was tasty. There were a huge variety of flavours to choose from including rare ones like black sesame. I like how they offered a nice waffle topping to put on your gelato which made the picture look great! We went here before dine in opened back up from the pandemic and they only allowed 6 people in store at a time.

First time visited Amato Gelato on the recommendation of a friend. Ice cream was amazing as suggested by several other reviewers and staff was very helpful. However, I am writing this review because of the unique personal experience that has touched my heart and I must admit that I NEVER have received this respect as a father of young growing son. He has set an example for my young son as how he respect his father. Salute to you.
